Books Types and Format

In this piece of writing try to cover the topics about the books its format and types. Books are still considered the one of the strong medium of knowledge preservation and information dissemination. This article is helpful to the general readers, students, librarian and library sciences students and researchers. Three important topic about the book are discussed as under:-

What is a Book?

Definition of Book

Book is an intellectual object. It is a medium of recording the information in the forms of writing, printing, Typing and digital format. As per the UNESCO books contain at least 49 pages in organized format.

There two types of Books

1. Fiction Books

2. Non Fiction Books

Fiction Books

Fiction books having content about the stories, imagination, mysteries, romance and fantasy.

None Fiction books

None fiction books are based on the facts, self-help, Learning, Religious History and Science and Technology and etc.

On the basis of content None fiction further divided into 6 category.

1. Text Books

2. Reference Books

3. Religious Books

4. Scientific Books

5. Historical Books

1. Text Books

The Textbooks are those books which are the part of learn and mandatory recommended by the authority Board, Council, Higher Education and etc. for any specific grade or class.

Example Text of Physics for O level

2. Reference Books

Reference books are the those books which is used for the purpose of to find the meaning or find facts

Example: Dictionary, Encyclopedia and etc.

3. Religious Books

Books about the belief of any religion known as religious Books. Followers of that religion follows that book to day to day matter and religious practice.

Example : The Holy Quran, The Holy Bible

4. Scientific Books

Scientific Books are those books which provide information/content about the science and technology related topic. It can be life science to information technology.

Example : Introduction to data Science, Block Chain Technology

5. Historical Books

Historical Books provide content about the historical place or an historical event in past. Historical books provide information about the an event, war, disaster success and etc.

Example : 1945 victory in the West

6. Biographies

Biographies are the books provide the information about any personality of any specific profession or field.

Example : Biography of William Shakespeare, Mark Twin and etc.

3. E-Books

4. Online Books

1) Manuscript

Manuscript is the hand written books in organized books which is distinguished from printed books. It also considered the rear book and always become a part Archive, Museum and library. Before the printing age manuscript is one important format of knowledge preservation.

2) Printed Books

Printed Books are printed in a printing press. This is most common format of books. Printed books makes provide easily access to general reader. Printed books easily moveable and read as per the convenience of the reader.

3) E-Books/Electronic Books

Electronic Books or e-books are the books which is an electronic format like in CD’s, DVD, PDF or word format and display in our screen in our digital gadget Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile and etc. Electronic books there is no need to read any internet connection it can be read offline.

4) Online Books   

Online Books digital file containing a body of text and images suitable for distributing online and displaying on-screen in a manner similar to a printed book. Reader can feel the visual effects animations of online books podcasting and automated reading are also available in few books. Sometime online books require e-reader special software like adobe digital edition, kindle and e-Pub-reader and etc.
