Research Question: Constructs of Research Question and Characteristics of Research Question by Muhammad Yousuf Ali

This article is helpful for early career researcher, scholars and students and those who involve in research conduct a research and write a research paper or an article.

This article cover three about 3-Important points about the Research Questions

1. What is a Research Question?

2. How Research Can Construct Research Questions?

3. What are the Characteristics of the Good Research Questions?

1. Research Question

A research question is a specific inquiry which the research seeks to provide a response to. It resides at the core of systematic investigation and it helps researcher to clearly define a path for the research process.

A research question is usually the first step in any research project. Basically, it is the primary interrogation point of your research and it sets the pace for your work.

Typically, a research question focuses on the research, determines the methodology and hypothesis, and guides all stages of inquiry, analysis, and reporting. With the right research questions, you will be able to gather useful information for his/her investigation.

2. Construct Research Questions

Specifying the research question is one of the first methodological steps the investigator has to take when undertaking research. Researcher/Investigator should consider the following point when formulated a research question.

1. Having an interest in or knowledge of a particular subject can be useful in the construction of a research question (Farrugia, 2010).

2. Formation of the research question is largely determined by, and likewise influences, where and what kind of information will be sought (Creswell, 2014).

3. Choosing a research question is the central element of both quantitative and qualitative research and in some cases it may precede construction of the conceptual framework of study; in all cases, it makes the theoretical assumptions in the framework more explicit and indicates what the researcher wants to know most and first.

4. The research question must be accurately and clearly defined and support from literature which discussed in the literature review.

3. Characteristics of Good Research Questions

There are four main characteristics of the research Questions

1. Feasible 2. Clear 3. Significant 4. Ethical Issue

1. Feasible

Research question is easy and feasible to do research achieve the response what researcher try to find out.

2. Clear

Research question should be clear and ambiguity free.

3. Significant

Research Questions has a significant and related to research topic and subject, sub-field or domain.

4. Ethical Issue

Research question should full fill the criteria ethical issue to coverage the protection of respondent anonymity and other consent of the participant.
