Probability Sampling

Sampling: Types of Sampling Probability Sampling and different types of Probability sampling by Muhammad Yousuf Ali

This article about the sampling and types of sampling. This article cover following point about the sampling.

Q 1 What is Sample?

Sampling

Sampling selected elements (people or objects) chosen for participation in a
study In a simple words Sampling reflects the characteristics of the population, so the sample findings can generalised to the population.

Q 2 What are the two main types of sampling?

There are two main type of Sampling

  1. Probability Sampling
  2. None Probability Sampling

1.Probability Sampling

Probability Sampling are the sampling where every
character of population are equal chances to be select for any study or research.

2. None Probability Sampling

In None Probability Sampling there is a specific type of population selected for the study or research.

Q 3 What are the different types of Probability sample?

There three main types of Probability Sampling

  1. Random Sampling
  2. Stratified Random Sampling
  3. Systematic Sampling

1. Random Sampling

In Random Sampling Every element (member/object) of the population has a probability to be selected for any specific study or research.

Example:-

The patient who have effected with both the diseases like hypertension and diabetics in a specific population. So all the patient who have both the same diseases having are equal chances to be selected in a study and research.

2. Stratified Random Sampling

In Stratified Random Sampling, Population is divided into subgroups, called strata, according to some variable or variables in importance to the study.

Example:-

Selection of a primary school teacher from each school age group 25 to 30 years two male and two female teacher from any specific district.

3. Systematic Sampling

Systematic sampling is a type of random sampling. But in process researchers and scholars selected the every nth number/member of the population selected for the study (like 5th element, 7th element or 3rd element) can be selected from the population.

Example

In a class room we select 10 student from out of 40 so researcher can selected every 4th number of student form the classroom.
