Internet Technology libraries are reshaping and all the modern libraries are using library software which is general known as Library system or Library Management System (LMS) or sometime referred as Library and information Management system. This small piece of writing try to explore the answer of two questions related to library software.

What is library Software?
A library software is a complete management of library systems and having module of material acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, serial and OPAC. Library software also referred as Library system or automation or integrated library system (ILS).
Libraries rely on library management systems to manage collections as well as patron records. Library management systems help libraries keep track of their collection inventory and loans, and member subscriptions and upto date patron profiles, sometimes for multiple physical locations. Library software educational academic libraries like school college university, as well as public or speical libraries. Library patron’s aspect library management systems support them to find, reserve, and loan the material. Library staffs employ that it is helpful to manage the acquisition, cataloging, and inventory of library material.
What are the Characteristics of library software?
There are following characteristics of library management system or software
1. Library software store and manage and retrieve information on different types of Library materials books, e-books, these, dissertation and etc.
2. Manage Library patron/member information including profiles, current and previous borrowing history, payments, and penalties
3. Allow users to find information from public sources like OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
4. Manage Library material circulation and existing library records
5. Provide statistics on circulation, inventory, late returns, fine or lost material
