Database is one of the important source to store the various type of records in ogranzied way and retrieve the records when required. Database stores on computers, online servers and internet cloud this article help to explore two questions related to database.

Q 1.What is database ?

A database is an organized collection of data stored and accessed electronically. Small databases can be stored on a file system, while large databases are hosted on computer clusters or cloud storage.

Databases are used for storing, maintaining and accessing any sort of data. That information is gathered in one place so that it can be observed and analyzed. Databases are considered an organized collection of information.

A bibliographic database is a database of bibliographic records, an organized digital collection of references to published literature, including journal and newspaper articles, conference proceedings, reports, government and legal publications, patents, books and etc.

Q 3. What is Full-text database?

A full-text database or a complete-text database is a database that contains the complete text of books, dissertations, journals, magazines, newspapers or other kinds of textual documents.

There are three main format of database

1. Open Access Database

Open Access Bibliographical database provide bibliographical information along with full-text of the content like DOAJ. Directory of Open Access Journal. Content are open access under the licenses of creative commons.

2.Closed Access Database

Closed Access Bibliographical database some time referred as commercial database library and user have to made payment for the access of such database. Like Web of Science, Scopus are the examples of commercial or closed access databases.

3. Partially open Access Bibliographical Databases/Hybrid Open Access Databases

Partially Open Access/Hybrid Open Access databases, where only specific articles or issues are open access and rest of the content in mode of closed access/subscription access. These types of database of partially open Access database.
